Title

The Academy for Martial Arts, the place for martial arts training in Contra Costa County, has the distinction of being the last family-run studio in the East Bay. What does that mean for you? Well, we know our students and parents by name, and we understand and take into account their interests and training needs, interacting on a one-on-one basis on the mat. We take great care in creating a sense of family inside the studio, as well as requiring our students to participate in the community.

students

Not only do we have a strong commitment to community, we also push our students to be the best they can be in the arena of martial arts. While we help our students achieve their martial arts goals, we also uphold a high level of proficiency in the art. Through a series of stripe and belt tests, we ensure that our students are fully qualified to reach black belt. We find that our students rise to this challenge and even want to continue after their first degree black belt test. While at many studios reaching black belt is the end of the journey, for our students it's just the bridge to a whole new level of martial arts mastery.

instructors

Perhaps one of the most important aspects of a studio is instructor quality, and in that regard The Academy for Martial Arts is unparalleled. Master Hun Park was a South Korean presidential bodyguard, coach for Hodori (the world-renowned South Korean Demonstration Team), and holds black belts in many martial arts, including taekwondo, hapkido, and judo. Master Park received his first black belt at age 6, and has been teaching for over 20 years. Kristi Park, our program director and creator of our Little Ninjas program, has been teaching for well over 15 years.

Feel free to browse our website for more information about our various programs.
